Maybe I’m missing something about male psychology. Why would any man readily display his insecurity about his masculinity? And why would he further think that he lobbed a good insult against the woman that triggers that insecurity, by doing so? As Media Matters for America pointed out, both Chris Matthews and Tucker Carlson have made odd, unprovoked comments about Senator Hillary Clinton being somehow castrating. Do they think that her image is tarnished by such an admission? Aren’t they the least bit concerned that they come off as pathetic Neanderthals? What is the point of such gratuitously graphic grossness anyway? What exactly do these men expect from female presidential candidates? Must they spend half their time soothing the egos of the male pundits that comment on their campaigns? Perhaps Hillary should tell Chris how manly he is, or offer to tie Tucker’s bow-tie.
It’s 2007, we’ve lost more American lives (and untold Iraqi lives) in Iraq than we lost on 9/11, the dollar is in the tank, the victims of Katrina are still waiting for relief, and our pundits can’t take their minds off their penises. And they complained about Bill.
