Bottom line-- the Bush administration is bankrupt when it comes to competent diplomats. Extemists and sycophants are incapable of doing the honest, hard working, nuanced performance that a successful diplomatic mediator is required to do.

I notice that some conservatives have been talking about sending some past presidents to negotiate in the middle east. Well, Jerry Ford is too old and could negotiate his way out of a paper bag, and George Herbert, well, I don't think anyone considers him a negotiator either. That leaves Jimmy and Bill.
