About 50% of our power is from coal. There are countries that are 50% more energy efficient than us. If USA gets 50% more efficient in its use, i.e with high efficiency systems, and sustainable elemental power supplies, as well as strict standards on efficiency, we can eliminate coal entirely. We must set this example for the world, as well as the foreign countries we export coal too that have lax environmental regulations and spew in our direction, ala China and the recurring brown cloud.
West Virginia exports approx 50% of its coal overseas. Don't buy the lie of 'national energy security' that is sure to hype up as King Coal and power companies continue to poison us slowly and steadily with mercury and acidity. It's 'energy security' to keep coal resources locked inside the mountains (where it is safe and can't ruin the atmosphere and shift the climate) as well as to protect the soon to be precious water resources that come from the headwaters and 'birth place of rivers'--- West By God Virginia!
