The Bill of Rights -- for all intents and purposes -- is the American people's Ten Commandments of Freedom. Tens of thousands of patriots died in the effort to secure our civil liberties and no-one has the right to dismiss their sacrifice. When our president, elected representatives and law officers enter into public service, they swear an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the U.S. against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
Unfortunately, few of our representatives, including the President, have honored their oath to defend the Constitution. The truth is, George Bush and his neo-fascist cohort are actively engaged in the destruction of our civil liberties.
They spy on Americans' phone calls, e-mails, and all other electronic communications without a search warrant.
They write their own search warrants, called "National Security Letters."
They can search your home or office without notifying you.
They can deny anyone the right to due process by declaring an individual to be an "enemy combatant."
They can station military troops anywhere in the United States to "suppress public disorder," reversing hundreds of years of constitutional restrictions on the use of the military to police American citizens.
Granted, a myriad of Democratic politicians, including Senator Hillary Clinton, have collaborated with the Bush regime's war on our Constitution; but it is an unassailable fact that George Bush's attacks on our civil liberties would not be possible without the approval and cooperation of the Republican Party establishment.
The Bill of Rights is the only protection "we the people" have against an abusive government. There is no middle ground -- either you support our Bill of Rights or you join the ranks of it's enemies.
The question for rank and file Republicans is, whose side are you on?
