No, I don't hate Chinese. I don't love them either. In fact the Triumph of the Will tells us that they are the same as us. But it was like a bad dream. Deja vu.

::::::::

It was  like a bad dream.  The  stadium, sweltering heat and people working  instead of the machines. The lonely dancer on the cover carrried by hundreds. Children saluting.  Legs, legs, legs. Of course, those girls were gorgeus ( Bush could not put down the binoculars) but  if you have so many  legs moving in tune  even cancan becomes boring, Tai- Chi-thousands of grown-up men covered with sweat from head to toe   moving exaclty the same way. I wonder what stench was at that stadium. And the US commenter  meekly saying something about ' China showing  the transfer to  individualism'. Where did he see that one? The girl floating on  a kite?

In  a 90 degrees heat Bush and other dignitaries looked  tired and uncomfortable. Berlusconi did not come and he was right, of course. Shimon Peres was there; was he  thinking  how nice would it be to convert all Chinese into Judaism? They had absorbed so much without actually  adopting: it is  an Empire without an Emperor, Republic without elections, Communist country without Marx, Capitalism without laws, Religious country without religion, smile without  joy and tears without sadness. Oh yes, I am surely wrong: if you kiss a Chinese girl it will be  a woman, like other, if you talk with the Chinese person- he/she will be as human as you are... But if you go down from those benches,  pick one of those unfortunate teenage girls  who had  to dance in that heat while the teams marched and tell her to  leave, go  with you  under some cover, tell her to stop that nonsense- she will not go. She will refuse. She will ask the security to remove you. It is a hypnosis. Triumph of the Will. The bad dream from 1936. The bad dream of deja vu of mine when I  was a child and  saluted the same way in the 1960s-70s. The bad  dream. People under the stairs.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and (more...)
