Regarding China censorship, I emailed my friend, "Mondo" Boyd in Chengdu, Chian on 7/12/2009:
My email: "In Oped diaries, some guy is asking if China censors Oped? Well...do they?" Wayne
His response on 7/14/2009:
Yo Wayne-O,
You-Tube, yes. Op-Ed, no problem. Seems a few months ago the Tibetan issue got hairy and the Govt, i.e. Beijing didn't like seeing the Dalai Lama on U-Tube so often, so has censored them.
For some reason, they think he wants to take over Tibet again and separate it from the one China. That would be like King Kameiha coming back and demanding Hawaii back. Ain't gonna happen. Oh well.
Yeah, OpEd gets through fine as far as I can tell. Unless some micromanager gets in there and changes the words in the articles...which I'd never know about...unless they went really bizarre like saying: China is Number One. Long live Communism. Or maybe Mao is/was God or something.
But as far as I can tell, no. Uncensored.
Mondo
