An increasing number of Democrats are seeing the "wisdom" of the Bush Administration's approach to the war on terror. In fact, they're parroting the position of then Vice President Cheney. Behold, now, the Cheney Democrat!

::::::::

Say what you want about the former Vice President (and many have said some rather nasty remarks), but at least he's consistent, which has an appeal in and of itself. However, the dynamic duo of "change and hope" Obama and Biden has duped grandly the majority of Americans. I know, I know big shocker there, huh? But what's more interesting is that the President's political supporters are fast becoming, with alacrity even, "Cheney Democrats".

What is a Cheney Democrat? A person who believes that change and hope consists of manipulative and deceptive lip service to the Nation, while pursuing a war on terror identical to that of Vice President Cheney - http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123638765474658467.html .

Essentially, though, the Cheney Democrats are running interference for President Obama. Rather than let the man's inexperience (and ignorance, to put it frankly) of "all things international" be shown, these congressional democrats "take one" for the President. And they do so in as magnificent hypocrites (think Nancy Pelosi).

For example, let's see what the junior senator from Virginia, Jim Webb a Vietnam veteran, said about the Guantanamo Bay detention center in April 2007:

"But there comes a point where [terrorists a/k/a "people"] need to be dealt with through the legal system... I think that time has come... We can't just continue to hold people in limbo without charges for this period of time and still call ourselves Americans," - http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,265024,00.html .

Now, read Senator Webb's exchange yesterday (May 17, 2009) about the current Democratic Administration's reversal on the immediate closure of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center with George Stephanopoulos:

"STEPHANOPOULOS: So the January deadline should be relaxed. The president should not meet that January deadline. You don't believe Guantanamo...

"WEBB: I think we should -- you know, I think we should defer to the judgment of the administration who is looking at this. I think we all are moving toward the right direction. But we shouldn't be creating artificial timelines," - http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/Story?id=7606997&page=2 .

And the good Senator sums up President Obama and his minions (think Wizard of Oz flying monkeys) ability to deceive when he states shortly after the exchange above:

"STEPHANOPOULOS: But the administration said January.

"WEBB: They [and me have] said a lot of things and taken a look and said some other things."

How fortunate for President Obama that he can "take a look" and change the concept... of change. What were Obama and his staff doing while campaigning? Did they "take a look" at that time or just whisper the sweet murmurings that Americans wanted to hear?

But Obama has the support of Cheney Democrats to also thank for the changing concept of change. And where have we witnessed a similar approach previously to such elite and existential word-smithy...ing?

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true," President William J. Clinton (former Democratic president).

Well, these actions only highlight how principled Bush and Cheney's actually were with respect to the war on terror. They stated a course of action, implemented it, never wavered from it, and made no apologies for it. And perhaps, just perhaps, with the Cheney Democrats continue Bush-like courses of action in the war on terror, President Bush and Vice President Cheney weren't as wrong or as evil as the ruling liberals asserted during the "illegal reign" of Bush II.

Let's be honest, if Bush and Cheney are "guilty" of "war crimes", then so too are Obama and Biden, as well as the Cheney Democrats.

And where is the liberal/progressive outrage on the President's dependence upon Cheney Democrats? Where are the public marches, protests, the ACTIVISM against Obama's outright mockery of "hope and change" for the Nation?

1. Reversal and support of FISA with promise to change "later"
2. Continued troop presence in Iraq
3. Expansion of Afghanistan conflict with additional troops and Pakistan inclusion
4. Continued operation of Guantanamo Bay Detention Center
5. Resumption of military tribunals
6. Blocked promised release of photographs detailing enhanced interrogation techniques

Personally, I believe liberals/progressive have applied a political filter to the notions of "hope and change". What was once evil under Cheney is now acceptable to Cheney Democrats.

Can you say "hypocrite"?

Back in the saddle again. In accordance with the new guidelines, I've dumped my infant pseudonym and have resumed the annoying name (to some members) of Tom Murphy. I have some catching up to do on the articles but look forward to playing (more...)
