Nationwide lobbying days & call-ins all this week, groups across the country will be calling Congressional offices about ending the Iraq war. (A one-day show of force is not enough. It's essential to keep up SUSTAINED pressure & inquiry calls in the coming weeks that follow!) Here is a list of Bills currently offered that would end the Iraq war (has your Congress person co-signed them yet? Put the heat on!)

::::::::

To look up the text of bills and see who has cosigned, go to: http://thomas.loc.gov (search by Bill Number)
(Can also search by Word, or by Sponsor, to find new bills as they are offered, such as the new Iraq bills coming soon by Rep. McGovern and by Sen. Feingold)
Another useful lookup tool:
http://capwiz.com/fconl/issues/bills/

HOUSE OF REPS:
H.R.508 (Woolsey) (comprehensive plan to end war)
H.R.413 (Farr) (revoke 2002 war authorization)
H.R.455 (Nadler) (redeploy troops out Iraq, compl. by 12/07)
H.R.353 (Markey) (only blocks troop surge - via funding denial)
H.Con.Res.33 (DeFazio) - a nonbinding "sense of congress" stating that military action against IRAN should receive prior Congressional authorization.
H.R.??? (McGovern) (new bill that will prohibit funding for the war; redeploy troops, compl. in 6 mo.; transf. bases to Iraq govt.

SENATE Bills:
S.121 (Feingold) (redeploy troops out Iraq, compl. by 6 mo.)
S.??? (Feingold) (new bill that will call for using the "power of the purse" to cut off funding for the war)
S.287 (Kennedy) (only blocks troop surge - via funding denial)
S.308 (Dodd) (only blocks troop surge - via cap numbers)
S.Res.39 (Byrd) (nonbinding resolution- "sense of Senate" that Pres. must obtain Congressional approval before offensive military action against any nation.

S. Con.Res.2 (Biden/Hagel/Levin) (nonbinding resolution - stating that surge "not in national interest"

A debate and vote on the above Biden bill could come by this Friday, or next week. Even though it is nonbinding, it sets the stage, lines up allies, gets the momentum going - (IF it passes!). Very important first step.
