I remember a low spot in my life, being homeless-living out of an 1980 something small truck, out of work for a seemly long period, I found I needed new shoes my old ones I wore out the second card board cut/out insole placed inside to cover the wore out area of both sole of my only shoes in an effort to keep my socks from getting wet and dirty. I went to a local community projects store which sold many items from used furniture to used shoes. I spotted a nice pair of brown dress shoes on the top shelf. They did not seem to have too much ware on them, if only they would fit and did not cost too much? The store was packed with people, several people also looking for shoes also.
I reached for the brown shoes and someone else, a somewhat bigger man also reached for the same shoes, but I was quicker and got a good grip on them the other man attempted to grabbed the shoes also, a small scuffle arose, a tug a war over a used pair of shoes I could tell he was strong, he must have been a recent immigrant from a foreign country he was speaking in his native language which did not make any sense to me, buy this time a crowd had gathered around us, watching this old used shoe tug-a-war? I have always fought hard for everything my whole life this was no exception. I managed to win the tug-a war and the foreign speaking competition said something which made some sense it sounded like he called me “crazy”,” nuts in the head”
I told him “Let me try them on if they don’t fit then you can have them!” He stood there watching while I tried on the shoes they were obviously “Too Big” so I put them back in the top shelf where I found them and walked away at the corner of my eye I could see he immediately grabbed the same shoes off the rack and putting both shoes on, they were a perfect match he then put another black pair on the top shelf replacing the same spot where the brown pair were on the top shelf. I finally figured out what had just happened. He was a “foreigner not use to our customs he must have put his own shoes on the shelf to fill the gap while he tried on the black pair”
The afterthought of what had just happened made me laugh and to top the cake the black pair of shoes turned out to a perfect match for me. http://got700billion.blogspot.com/
