From Greg Garrit of the Rhode Island Green Party: FYI The main message is Buy Nothing Day Friends, it is 10 days before Buy Nothing Day, things are coming together. Yesterday I heard that the new coat racks for hanging the coats up are mostly built. There are sites in Pawtucket accepting donations early. Slater Mill, City Hall, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Center and a few more. Today I heard that there will be a site in Newport St Paul's United Methodist 12 Marlborough St. With the coverage in the Pro Jo the phone is ringing off the hook with offers of coats and volunteers. Lots of volunteers would be great, so if you can, please come. The following is what we are basically letting any potential volunteers know. thanks for offering to volunteer on the 24th. You can find parking around the train station area. The Coat Exchange is on the beginning of the State House lawn right across from the Mall. Any good coats are great..... all sizes..... The event is from 10-2pm. People start coming around 9am, which is when we start setting up. . So anytime you get there ask for Greg or Phil (we have arm bands for volunteers). We move and hang up coats for a few hours. If rain or snow, will be held at St Patrick's School, 244 Smith St. If it rains or snows we shall need someone with good rain gear to stay by the state house for a while and hold a sign and direct folks to St Patrick's.
