A good idea that we should all adopt.

::::::::

Greg Gerrit is a member of the Rhode Island Green Party and heads up the yearly Buy Nothing Day in Rhode Island. However, it would be a good idea if we did this nationally, including the coat giveaway. Friends, Buy Nothing Day takes place on Friday Nov 24 and we shall again be at the Statehouse collecting and distributing winter coats between 10 AM and 2PM. Please write back if your organization is willing to support us as a co sponso(obligations of co sponsors are to publicize the event to your network) Last year we had our first satellite site, in Pawtucket, and are open to working with anyone who thinks they can run their own site on that day. I will gladly sit down with you and talk about what you need to be prepared for and how to garner publicity. Over the last few years a great group of volunteers has evolved and I look forward to working together with all of you again on this, the 10th Buy Nothing Day Winter Coat Exchange in RI. Things we especially need are folks who can make pdf's of flyers, organizations that can take leftover coats at the end of the day, and people who can make sure that people who need coats find out about the event. I know in August, on steamy days, it is hard to think about winter and the coats people need to stay warm, but over the years it seems like this is the time to start the process. I love to hear from you, so let me know you are back on board. greg gerritt 331-0529
