Two days ago the Capo de' Capi in the White House applied some Mafioso muscle to spring one of his underbosses from the slammer - before he served even one second of a much deserved thirty month stretch.
Credible polls indicate that over 60 percent of Americans are outraged by Bush’s release of "Scooter" Libby (an ironic moniker that could have come straight out of "Guys and Dolls"). Many of the same polls show that almost no one is surprised.
It is indeed devastating commentary on the times that outrageous behavior by the administration is regarded as a commonplace.
