The student of mathematics is often faced with evaluating the square or cube root of a number. There are many methods for doing so. The author recommends one of his own design.

PETER'S NEW YORK, Sunday, February 19, 2012--A little over six months ago I published an article on OpEdNews entitled "Beating the square root out of a radical sign with the number one." The article gained some attention for its exposition of a simple method to calculate the square root of a number. More recently, I have shown that the same method may be applied to cube roots, fourth roots, etc. As the OEN website is not particularly friendly to mathematical notation, I am posting a link to the new paper in pdf format. I look forward to receiving comments from readers.
