If anyone parses the phrases used by Rush Limbaugh in most of his speeches, he will find them a rehash of Cold War US propaganda. Richard Nixon put the techniques to good use in 1968 to win and the Republicans have constructed their 40-year reign on them.
The Republicans are expert at information control, media manipulation, market research and advertising. They persuaded the gullible public that they were the champions of liberty, peace and the American Way. When events established they were lying, they swept the inconvenient facts under the national security rug.
After four years as virtual dictator, George Bush won re-election in 2004 with over 59 millions votes. The Republicans in 2008 hid the recession from the voters. If they had managed to hide it until after the election, John McCain would have been President.
