As a resident of the Northwest, I find this bit of information stunning. Also considering that Boeing has chosen not to deal with unions here, but would rather go down South where the pay is lower to build its airliners and weapons, I find this doubly alarming. At least if you are going to make a profit making weapons, pay the people well who make them. Alas greed and war profiteering go hand in hand.Boeing made number one on the list, but the others that made up the top ten are as follows:
1. Boeing (USA)
2. BAE systems (UK)
3. Lockheed Martin (USA)
4. Northrop Grumman (USA)
5. General Dynamics (USA)
6. Raytheon (USA)
7. EADS (Western Europe)
8. L*3 Communications (USA)
9. Finmeccanica (Italy)
10. Thales (France)
I downloaded this list from http://www.sipri.org/databases/top100
Most of the countries with the big weapons dealers reside in the US, Europe, Russia, Israel, Japan and South Korea. China was not included in this particular study.
War is big business, and with the President signing in another debt-racking defense budget these companies will be raking in the bucks. If I wasn't completely cynical, I would say that our government's priorities are: War, Wall Street, and everyone else be damned.
I would even go so far as to say that war is all about expanding corporate interests or to put in another way if they don't like McDonald's just shove it down their throats with a few bombs. I would almost contend that most war is about taking resources, forcing ideas/ religion off on people, or forcing people to trade in ways that your country appreciates very much. All the other rhetoric about nationalistic pride, religious fervor is just baloney. What they should say is they intend to make some rich people a heck of a lot richer on the backs of some very unfortunate souls.
The corporate world controlling ghouls who profit from war and shoveling hamburgers down vegetarian's throats make money off of war and use war to make others trade the way they want or the way it is more profitable for the ghouls at the top.
The lowly fools at the bottom need to catch on to this ruse.
