It's a sure sign of desperation when republican leaders hurl insults at members of their own party that are usually reserved for democrats.

::::::::

Republican House minority leader John "Crybaby" Boehner views fellow GOP members of Congress who are finally breaking out of the confines of group think, unmanly.

Whether members are compelled by the official release of the report that outlines the dismal progress made by the Iraqi "government" thus far, or they are just politically savvy enough to know its time to cover their asses, as Boehner sees it, they're wimps. Wonder what he's saying about female members of Congress like Olympia Snow over in the Senate?

A real man after all would want to continue at all costs to send mothers and brothers and sons and daughters to die in an illegal corporate war devised to grow the monetary and political control of the United States in the Middle East.

How dare any self-respecting republican deviate from this scheme? Why, real men stand on the floor of the House of Representatives and sob as Boehner did this past May, passionately asserting through his tears that if members did not vote to continue to fund the Iraq war without any provisions for a timetable for withdrawal, America will "long, long, regret it".

I have a feeling that if a female member of Congress made a habit of crying on the House floor as much as Boehner does, she'd probably be considered flighty or hormonal.

America will long, long, regret the Iraq war but none so much as those who've lost loved ones to a revolving cause, a pitch de jour the Bush frat boys have run up the flag pole periodically to see how it would fly until some unfettered reality is revealed.

Boehner like Bush, are glass half full kind of guys. That’s how America wins by God, no matter how bleak things are and no matter how many strangers are killed or maimed, just keep on saying things are improving and pretty soon those skeptics will come around.

On Thursday, Bush declared that the fact that only eight of eighteen benchmarks outlined as measurements of political success in Iraq have not been met was "cause for optimism."

No matter the tactics used to paint the war in Iraq as being a hard fought just cause that is being undermined by those who don't support it, backing for the Iraq war can no longer so simply be broken down by left and right, and this makes demonizing the other a little more complex for Bush / war supporters.

Apparently, it’s a little more frustrating too, hence the name-calling. The issue is no longer red and blue but rather one between those who are reality-based, and at this late date, those who are supportive of incompetence, lies, and the illegal and so obviously immoral sacrifice of human life by some of the most craven and depraved leaders the country has ever known.

Finally, hopefully, these initial GOP defections from the war president's grasp is a beginning to an end that will at last embolden Democrats in the Senate to terminate this war before Will Rogers' remarks become complete prophecy. “If we ever pass out as a great nation we ought to put on our tombstone 'America died from a delusion that she had moral leadership'.”
