Desiderius Erasmus, an astute political observer living 500 years ago in a more enlightened age, observed that in the country of the blind the one-eyed man is king.
Erasmus could not have forseen that the United States would prove him wrong, where the blind, in defiance of reason, logic and Erasmus would perversely chose to place one of their own upon the throne.
