I think this Monday morning diary entry on Bill Kristol may have to become a regular feature at OpEdNews (see http://www.opednews.com/maxwrite/diarypage.php?did=6169), at least as long as he graces the op-ed page of the New York Times. I know -- many of you will say he's not worth the effort, but he requires so little effort.
What I "like" best about Kristol's columns is his uncanny knack for unintentional irony -- in this morning's case (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/03/opinion/03kristol.html?ref=opinion) provided by the line:
"Don’t let ideologues try to create heaven on earth, because they’ll deprive us of freedom and make things a lot worse."
Remaking the Middle East, warrantless wiretaps, waterboarding, signing statements, Guantanamo . . . Hmmmm.
I'm about the same age as Kristol, and I remember my liberal political philosophy professor at Indiana University -- "complacent and uninterested," as Kristol would have it -- assigning me two of Friedrich Hayek's books to read. But never let the facts get in the way of a bad column.
