During a Friday night game between the Indians and Yankees, Jacob's field was aswarm with bugs, driving the players nuts as well as the camera crews, and causing some fans to cry "foul."
My reaction: Tough! All these ball players are mega-rich grow'd up boys, and they can put up with bugs or whatever for their big bucks, and be thankful they're not dodging bullets instead of bugs.
There was also a 14-minute lights-out delay in Colorado.
On the lighter side, during a Boston-Angels game at Angel Stadium the television camera focused on a fan with a "real live, tail-wagging, peanut-eating" rally monkey on his back. Not only was it a wonder that he was able to bring a monkey into the stadium, but did he have to buy a child's ticket for his furry friend?
It's all over for a couple of day until the playoffs for the ultimate playoff.
As far as the sports broadcasters themselves go, SHUT UP!...PLEEZE!
Die hard fans already know all the nuances of the game. The rest of the people who watch the playoffs are like lapsed Catholics who only attend church services on Christmas and Easter. They are lapsed baseball fans who only watch the playoffs, and they DON'T CARE! about the finer points of the game.
Although the fans might prefer clean sweeps, the TBS money men are probably hoping all the games go the distance.
Me, I don't care much either way since I don't really have a team in this baseball marathon to the finish, for which my nerves are eternally grateful. I do have to restock the fridge with beer and the pantry with microvable popcorn, so the games can begin!
