At my house we are already in a depression Pt. 2

Message

WOW! I never expected so many different comments from my story..This is great. I am glad to hear from everyone.

Thanks Mr.Kall for headlining my story…that was a huge surprise.

Well, I knew that we weren’t alone in this week to week struggle trying to survive or just trying to keep our heads above financial failure. I wrote this story and posted it on myspace in a bulletin and in my blog and there I received over 30 comments and so many personal stories from others that are going through similar tough times and even a lot worse. I shouldn’t say that I’m amazed, cuz I’m not ..I have good eyes… I would say that I’m AWAKE to what is going on in this world and in our country.

I volunteer at least three times a week in my community and the food lines are getting longer and the food bank supplies are getting smaller..I see more and more people living out on the streets (whole families). I’ve taken in 4 young boys for the last year ages 18 19 20, friends of my 18 year old son. They’re either motherless, fatherless or they have a parent strung out on drugs (crack does kill). We have had at least 20 young folks in and out of our house needing a place to stay for a few days to shower, rest awhile and eat. Every one is a high school drop out. They can’t find a job, they don’t have the diploma or a GED. No drivers license, No vehicle to get to a job, and No place to stay . What a mess and to think this has been playing out with millions of Americans and IT’S ABOUT TO GET WORSE! And you wonder why we have such a marijuana problem in this world. Everyone wants to just take a toke and say F it all! And No, joining the military to fight Bush’s LIE isn’t an option. I hammer it into their heads that joining the ARMY to go fight and kill brown skinned people with a different religion on the other side of the world won’t make your life any better. It will make it worse or end your life.

My suggestion to them is to get you GED, stay out of trouble, stay out of gangs, stay off of drugs, get up look for work everyday and we will figure out a way to get you to your job when you get one and don’t drive without a driver’s license and insurance. The last boy left in November everyone has a job and are currently living with someone else. Our 18 year old son will be joining job corp. next month to get his diploma and learn a trade.

I wanted to touch on a few of the comments that some of you wrote to me on my story “At my house we are already in a depression”

First let me mention why it took us 22 years to purchase our first house. My husband is 10 years older than me and was married for 8 years and had three children before we met… she (his ex )promptly took off with his kids when my husband came home from 8 years in the Navy (before I met my husband) and they got a divorce.

We had spent 22 years paying child support. That is why we could never get ahead enough to buy a house before the year 2000. Now saying that, please don’t think that I’m whining cuz I’m not we have always paid our child support, and our bills.

In 2000 we were renting a house for $ 700 a month right across the street from where we both worked we didn’t even need to drive. Then the housing market boom started and the price for houses started going up….well our landlord was one of the first to put his house on the market to sell…yeah it sold in a week and my husband and I got the notice to move in 30 days.. we looked for a house for weeks to rent all we could find was pricing at $1200 a month for rent.. so we figured if I have to pay that much to rent why not look to buy…so we went to a real estate broker to see about buying our first home.. We found one for $135.000 and you are right we didn’t even have enough money to even put down we had to borrow the $3000. But if a family has to pay $1200 a month for rent it only seems logical to spend $1200 a month on a mortgage. RIGHT..We did take a loan out on the house after the first year to fix it up( remember the price of house’s were going up quickly then). By Oct. 2005 we sold our home for $355,000 wow! We paid almost everything off. But remember I was on disability and still not working. Right after we sold the house and got things paid off my disability ran out and that’s when we had to pull the credit cards back out to buy food and gas for our cars every week. It would be a whole year before I was able mentally and physically to get a job.

So to make this story come to an end..lol …Yeah we did some things wrong But I think mostly we did things right and the best we could….We never have taken food stamps,or asked for help from our families, heck we never missed any bill payments. Filing for bankruptcy in January was like saying we give up we surrender we

Just can’t do this any more..food and gas has almost doubled in the past year.. hell you pay more for a gallon of orange juice than for a gallon of gas now…lol..shoot that isn’t even funny.

Really I’m not whining but I am concerned really concerned for everyone..These next few years aren’t going to be easy…it could get messy…and no I don’t see any thing getting better with any of the three candidates that the MSM is pushing on us trying to sale us on Obama for Change, Hillary on her experience, or McCain’s ability to fight a war for 100 years…I’m going with Ron Paul…even if the Powers that be won’t give him a chance..Ron Paul is against this war and is the smartest candidate fix our economy.

Thanks for listening

Pamela
