[article] For Jacqueline Steiner, what Dennis Kucinich lacks in fame compared with U.S. Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, he makes up for in consistency when it comes to his opposition to the Iraq war."I'm here because he was one of the first people to come out against the war in Iraq, and he's been consistent," the Norwalk resident said about Kucinich, an Ohio congressman seeking the Democratic nomination for president. "That alone makes him a very important person to listen to."
Steiner was one of about 40 people who gathered at the Silver Star Diner early yesterday evening to hear Kucinich talk about his plans for ending the war and for changing domestic policies such as energy and health care.
"I don't know if he has great chances (of winning), but I think he's the best candidate," Beth Siegelbaum of Norwalk said as she waited for Kucinich to arrive from an appearance at Westport Public Library. "I can't understand why the media has not given him the right attention." [end article]
What??!!
A congressman who is consistent?
Who has opposed the Iraq War before it started?
Who has plans to end the war?
Who wants to change domestic policies on energy?
Who wants health care for all?
Well, hell, Beth and Jacqueline... THAT IS why the media has "not given him the right attention."
These corporate whores never have and never will give the best man the right attention. They think he'll be bad for their fat little banks-which in reality isn't true. And he positively WILL be good for their progeny, should they happen to have any, and likewise for the planet we live on.
It just so happens I DO have the answer as to whether or not this giant of a man has great chances of winning.
He does NOT have a good chance if every so-called progressive goes around with their head up their ass, like so many did last time, crying, "He's unelectable*, he'll never make it! Wa, wa, wa."
But he WILL MAKE IT if each and every one of us changes the record and says, "He will make it, and here's what I'm going to do to help him make it!"
Stated more metaphysically, for the philosophers amongst us, we create our own reality. It is a matter of which reality we choose to create, and what we're going to do about it. To do nothing is to create the reality that the media would like to see us create, and that you would then be trapped living in. Kind of like you are now, only probably worse.
Want one specific example, of hundreds I could give? Turn to page 29 of the last issue of Time Magazine. Look at the two column discussion of "presidential candidates"-Edwards, Obama, and Hillary. Period. Why no Dennis Kucinich? Reread what I just said.
And if you like that reality, don't lift a finger to make a change. You'll get exactly what you deserve, and your children will get what they DON'T deserve.
But if you prefer the reality that includes the best man running your country, then for heaven's sake, start spreading the word, making donations, and talk about this man to family, friends, and colleagues. Calmly, placidly, factually, no hernia necessary. Just do a little homework on the issues he stands for, and let others know that you like that, and that you WILL be voting for Dennis in the next Democratic primaries.
Here's a good place to start, if you want to know more about the issues Dennis Kucinich stands for, and consistently has stood for:
Vote Dennis 2008
*BTW I really wish someone would explain to me what "unelectable" weans. Whoever does will get five free Kucinich bumper stickers!
(And for anyone who wants a free Kucinich bumper sticker, just send me a self-addressed stamped envelope: Daniel Geery, 1987 S. McClelland St., SLC Utah 84105. Simply by driving around as you already do, you could be sending hundreds of others to his site, and you'll at least be part of the solution. Donations are NOT necessary, but even a dollar or two will go toward the next round of bumper stickers.)
