Following embarrassing revelations that Hillary Clinton has been exaggerating her role as First Lady in her husband's administration, the Clinton campaign tried to turn the tables by releasing statements suggesting that Barack Obama had exaggerated his own status on the faculty of the University of Chicago's law school. Challenging Obama's claim of having been a professor at the law school, Clinton claimed that in fact Obama was a mere lecturer or part-time instructor. Today, however, the University of Chicago itself released a statement confirming that Obama's status at the law school was indeed that of a professor. "From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004," the university's statement plainly reads, "Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School" (see CNN, Politico).
No one, meanwhile, has confirmed that the former First Lady ever faced sniper fire in Bosnia or anywhere else, that she ever played an important role in the Irish peace process, that she ever criticized NAFTA, or that she would have the slightest idea what to do when that White House phone rings at 3 a.m. Indeed the only thing we can confirm about Hillary Clinton is that she really, really, really wants to be president.
