PETER'S NEW YORK, Sunday, June 26, 2011--I didn't have my note pad with me today, so I can only give an impressionistic report about today's National Public Radio (NPR) broadcasts.
Eight year old girl allegedly used as a human bomb
I did manage to catch a few nasties this afternoon on my car radio, like the "news" about the eight-year-old girl who was allegedly used as a living bomb by the Taliban. The report said the little girl was loaded up with explosives, and the Taliban blew her up, but nobody else was hurt. Didn't get much sourcing from the report, nor did we hear a comment from the Taliban in response, so it could easily have been a CIA story designed to work Americans up into a frenzy of righteous indignation worthy of a lynch mob. Of course NPR reported it like it was all totally verifiable fact. To NPR it was just a little Talibani girl, the daughter of one those Towelheads who are brainwashed with Islamic doctrine. The infuriatingly lighthearted and overproduced tone in which this "news" was delivered prompted me to shut off the radio in order to keep myself from getting arrested for disorderly conduct. We must ask, what is the source of this report, and was the source credible? After all, the script accused a group of a horrendous crime. (I searched the NPR site for this news spot, but found no trace of it. At the end of this article from the Guardian, which attributes the source of the report to the Afghan Interior Ministry, we find a Taliban denial.)
NPR admits MSM's unwarranted love affair with Huntsman
In its Sunday show "On the Media," NPR harped on John Huntsman, the latest strawman to declare himself a candidate for the Republican nomination for U.S. president. Seems he's getting so much press coverage, even NPR had to notice that Huntsman's primary constituency was the media itself. We must ask the question, how can a virtually unknown figure become a media darling overnight?

NPR: Conventional wisdom is true wisdom
To add injury to insult, "On the Media" then examined the manner in which the media generates buzz, which it called "conventional wisdom." Various talking heads went on to say that conventional wisdom generally turns out to be true! This is a famously old and stale technique of starting out with one premise, only to confirm the opposite. The implication is that the media is omniscient after all. But another explanation is that the media is operating on a script which all the powers of clandestine government are being mobilized to carry out.
Note how this NPR segment legitimizes the "conventional wisdom" of the media highlighted in the preceding segment on Huntsman's widely heralded candidacy. Cle-ver!
The "conventional wisdom" according to NPR talking heads, is that Ron Paul is not a serious candidate, even though he has done quite well in Republican polls. Does one detect a scripting of the election cycle?
