I really don't think that officials who know what is going on, really could give a whip about Al Qaeda, the "terrorist threats", or anything about acting in the best interest of the public and actually working for the tax dollars we pay them, and pay them. I got some documents relating to Connecticut State Police Secret Enemies List, for a security alert put out by a special security force, a union of police officers and private security operatives to handle security around Governor M. Jodi Rell's inauguration and parade January 2007.
The most serious threats listed were
not hate groups, terrorists, violent criminals, Al Qaeda, the usual
suspects, or any groups. It was yours truly and a father who wrote
respectful letters to the Governor exposing judicial corruption in
family matters.
The former Green Party Campaign Manager for Connecticut Governor was also on the "Target for Arrest" list. Chris Kennedy and I feared being arrested for being out in public, thinking we were on a "Target List". So, the rival candidate's campaign manager, also a journalist, was arrested on sight for being on "The List" taking digital pictures of the governor working on a story. Ken Krayeske faced prison, a criminal record, and having wasted years of law school, unable to practice law as an attorney for having been falsely arrested, getting a bogus criminal record, and possibly having to endure prison.
So if US citizens who are critical of
public corruption, police misconduct, and kangaroo courts are the main targets of police, the
terrorist threat is just hype, not considered to be even a concern. So if police and officials think there is no threat in private memos to each other, there is no real threat to Americans either.

Target on Enemies List
"Person of Interest" designation for Steven G. Erickson, widely distributed among Troops of the Connecticut State Police, Capitol Guard, Hartford Police, and Special State Police Investigative Unit. The above is a poor copy off a pdf file, copied from the original distributed among police, probably in color as part of the Connecticut State Police Secret Enemies List special day handout.
A printed copy of [this blog page] was part of the file.
