Author of
Time and Washington Post and Middle East Specialist Fareed Zakaria talked to
Turkish reporter Emek Kaplangil and he gave advices for USA and European people
who activists of Wall Street occupation.
hurriyet.com.tr reporter Emek Kaplangil interviewed with Zakaria in Turkey.
The Hurriyet reporter reminds economic crisis all around the world and asks Fareed Zakaria that might Wall Street demonstrations and calling for occupation in USA and similar public reactions in Europe start the "USA and Europe spring' like Arabic spring.
"These movements (USA and Europe) have common features, according to me. But these movements mustn't been exaggerated. Situations and sensitivities in West are different from Arabic spring. Average USA citizens faced with new and difficult situation because of global economy developing. 100 millions of people came up who will work for half-price of average USA citizens. Although technological developing and informational developing created machines what can do whose 100 millions of people can do. These defrauded jobs from middle class American citizens.
These aren't valid for companies. USA companies earn since last 9 quarters (Much more than 2 years) and companies have 2.3 trillion dollars earnings.
Benefits of capital and benefits of employers diverged in west (USA and Europe) with 2008 crisis and this is the first at history. Globalization and technological developing are good for capital but globalization and developing mean suspense for employers. Therefore and unfortunately employers will live political dissatisfaction problem at next, I care just about this" said Zakaria.
(These comments of Zakaria remind me The Industrial Revolution. Thousands of people had lost jobs because of machines about 150 years ago and we or you live an historical time according to Zakaria, technology and information develop against employers. Zakaria said that people at squares were jobless because of themselves inadequacy. OMG)
Reporter asks may these movements in USA and Europe reach to target.
"Demands of these people are not clear at the moment. We don't know what they want literally. They came up because of angry, we know this. They don't have any movement-political plan and agenda. Do they want new taxes for riches? President Obama wants this, too. Do they want the protectionism? But if USA government practices protectionist politics, China and Europe economies which export to USA, will live economic recessions" said Zakaria.
Fareed Zakaria advices some solutions for employers, jobless and activist people at Wall Street and Europe.
"Western citizens must work much more and they must accept lesser prices. This is bad but real. Most of all, these people must improve themselves and must come to the fore at race. This is difficult and anyone wouldn't like to accept this message."
