I hate when MSNBC puts Tom Brokaw on. He just recycles corporate media talking points.
True to form, he made the incredible "observation" - on Wednesday's Race to the Whitehouse - that the Obama camp will try to steer Friday's debate away from Iraq, because he was "forced" to admit that the surge was more successful than he had anticipated.
I personally think Obama should have continued to stress the other, more important reasons for the drop in violence, but on the larger point: McCain's party is responsible for the huge mess in Iraq, costing blood and treasure, not making us any safer, and hugely unpopular with the American people; McCain himself was calling for war with Iraq the day after 9/11; and it's Obama who has to be afraid of bringing up Iraq??!!!!
