It's a really simple idea: if people make too much money, they get too powerful and it's tough for society since their greed stands in the way of human needs for the working poor.

We have a minimum wage. It's a joke. Let's have a maximum wage. Let's say nobody in America can make more than 10 times a minimum wage because that money will do more good providing health care (or something) for someone than it will buying a Porsche for some rich jackass.

Okay? So, the federal minimum is $6.55/hour. That means nobody would be able to make more than $65.50/hour unless the minimum wage were raised. We wouldn't even have to end capitalism. It's such a small demand really. Too bad the Democrats and Republicans are against it. Looks like we need an emerging party to fight for workers.

 

My intellectual awakening is ongoing. Lately, politically, I'm most interested in efforts to break down two-party rule in this country. I registered Green after the Democrats won control of Congress. The more I think about it, the happier I am with (more...)
