A simple way to make our politicians tell the truth.

Message

I give credit to a Ed Schultze caller on air America on June 1, 2007 for this idea.

Through legislation make all politicians and paid public officials take an oath swearing that they are ALWAYS under oath to tell the truth when speaking about the public business to anyone. Especially on the floor of our legislative bodies, or in press conferences, etc. Anywhere, anytime, to anyone.

If they can not answer truthfully, no comment will do.

We can insist that any prosecuter must bring charges upon a citizens sworn testimony they heard the lie coupled with a videotape of the lie after the prosecuter confirms the videotape is accurate and there is a videotape or sworn testimony by two citizens to the contradiction.

The police and reality TV do these kinds of videotaped stings all the time.

Futher, that in any paid public setting, our government keep a publicly available videotape of their statements for anyone to peruse during business hours.

Getting back to the Coase Theorem, not challenging and stopping public lies by our leaders is a violation of Strict Liability and always reduces the Quantity of Goods and Services Exchanged. It short it makes us citizens really, really stupid for tolerating such vile behavior.

Wake up and smell the roses fellow citizens or we all die. See my website for confirmation of this prediction.
