Larry Craig is a symptom of a larger American societal sickness....

::::::::

It would be easy to be mean-spirited towards Senator Larry Craig; and, I confess, that I've taken my cheap shot at him.
But as an out gay man, and with age, I have learned to be more understanding of people like Larry Craig no matter how much I may disagree with their political and philosophical visions.
I hope that Larry Craig learns to accept himself for who he is, for who he has been created to be... I hope that Larry Craig will reconcile with his family and friends that they may learn the truth of his being, whatever that may be. I hope that Larry Craig learns to be more compassionate and authentic: I wish him tolerance and understanding for those who express their love and sexuality differently from heterosexuals.
I hope that Larry Craig will be a better example for young gay men and young lesbians, and their transgender and questioning counterparts, that they do not have to live in the cloud of shame, secrecy, and confusion that Senator Craig has dwelt in.
I hope that Larry Craig comes to understand that gay men and lesbians are born of man and woman as part of Nature: what is real and true, not some abomination in the narrow mind of ideologues.
I hope that Larry Craig comes to understand the difficulties that people who are not heterosexually oriented must live with on a daily basis: simply for being themselves.
And most of all, I wish forgiveness for Larry Craig.
