How fortunate we were to live when America's second Mark Twain lived and vented. A gay man, he almost engaged William F. Buckley in fisticuffs on national TV. A historical writer, even Mr. Macho, Norman Mailer was proud to be his friend. A wealthy Easterner, Gore was a radical and anti-Imperialist, first, foremost, and always, and he was before his time, of his time, and even more, of OUR time. Now Gore Vidal is passed. All hail Gore the Great ! !
