That G. I. Bill gave birth to more than more than eight million returning combat veterans from World War II receiving full college tuition, low-cost mortgages, and living expenses. Because of some abuses, the bill was deeply cut back-too far back perhaps, in hindsight. Now, however, the bill covers only from 60%-70% of college costs at public colleges and universities and for four years but only less than two years coverage at a private college or university. What many who have written about the matter did not understand is the reasoning behind FDR's insistence upon the G. I. Bill. In 1932, right after FDR's first term as president began, 500,000 G. I's, from WW I descended upon Washington and were camped out in the parks. They were there to lobby for the pension's promised by others during and after WW I, 15 years earlier which never materialized. According to a BBC TV special and writings from that era, FDR recalled that Prescott Bush had tried to force the coup based on the desire for the veterans to receive a pension to help adjust to the loss of time in the war and to civilian life and old age, in which some were still suffering from wounds and injuries from the war. Prescott Bush, through the old Brown Brothers Harriman, and USB Bank, (no affiliation to the present companies of that name) was lending millions to Adolph Hitler, for building factories between 1932-1942, and even into 1951 held millions in secret accounts, according to the report, even long after the Trading With The Enemies Act made such dealings a crime. Much of corporate industry, however, recognizes no loyalties and no enemies when a profit is possible. FDR, however, staving off suggestions to extricate them from Washington forcibly, he wisely, instead, sent them supplies and assistance for their stay in the park. He thus staved off the coup which, had it been carried out would have won the war for Adolph Hitler. With the USA in the war on the side of the fascists/Nazi's, or even staying out of the war and allowing Industry to finance Hitler's insanity through the still fascist dominated Military Medical* Industrial Complex; murder, cessation of the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution, kidnapping, senseless oil wars, spying on citizens, assassination of American citizens and congressmen and women, torture, bribery, mass murder, coup's in America, attempts by Legalized Drug Dealers-the corporate Pharmaceuticals, to make everyone in America Drug Dependent; the better to control and eliminate them to keep them-us, from initiating any sort of revolution. OhMyGosh, it happened anyway without our consciously all becoming fascists!! Most Americans became fascists because secretly, way down deep where most people fear to tread, the idea of a corporate run government, is appealing to them. They foolishly believe that the power behind this movement will allow them to become a wealthy part owner of the Stealing of America. Secretly many Americans, did back in 1932, and more do now, agree with Hitler, Prescott Bush and their kind, about the inferiority of blacks, homosexuals, Catholics, lower and middle class working people, factory employment, and promulgating, cheap and slave labor-outsourcing and the elimination of Jews, (Except while using them for the fictional "End of Days," which was not what John was writing about in Revelations/The Apocalypse. He was writing a curse against Rome, and visualizing wars into the future because of Fascism, just as did Nostrodamus.) Senators, Jim Webb (D-VA) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE) have written that a the nearly decapitated G.I. Bill is "a reasonable enlistment incentive for peacetime service, but it is an insufficient reward for wartime service today." Webb therefore introduced on his very first day in the Senate Bill 22 -- "a mirror of the World War II G.I. Bill" with the goal of strengthening today's G.I. benefits and rising tuitions costs. Webb's Senate Bill 22 has been held, so a bipartisan Senate group which includes Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Sen. John Warner (R-VA), Webb, and Hagel, yesterday reintroduced a revised the Webb Bill with a new version called the "21st Century G.I. Bill." The new version "would be available to all members of the military who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001." However, this bill would give Reservists and National Guard members, which currently receive only a small percentage of the benefits of active-duty troops, a full measure of benefits. This will be a reward for those who served as well as an incentive for those who because of this unjust Bushite racial/religious oil "war" are not joining to reconsider. Veterans, which are eligible, would receive education benefits, which would cover the most expensive in-state public college or university and would provide a monthly allowance for housing priced according to geographical area. Moreover, "21st Century G.I. Bill."" creates a program wherein the government provides, a dollar-for-dollar matching program of contributions from private educational institutions which have higher tuition rates than those which are covered in the bill." Veterans would be given a 15-year window of opportunity to use their educational assistance, an upgrade from the ten-year deadline on the revised older bill. The new G.I. bill "is projected to cost about $2.5 billion per year," which is about the cost of U.S. operations in Iraq for one week. In his State of the Union address, President Bush mentioned expanding and transferring "unused education benefits to their spouses or children," however when he submitted his budget to Congress the next week, it mentioned nothing about his proposal. Far worse than that, in a display of duplicity and hypocrisy, the White House and the Pentagon have shown resistance to Webb's bill "out of fear that too many will use it." Robert Clarke, assistant director of accessions policy at the Department of Defense, stated, "the incentive to serve and leave" may "outweigh the incentive to have them stay." Further Clarke said, "it is simply off-base to compare what was offered to World War II veterans to the situation today. There was no concern about retention rates back then." In this case, he dodges the real issue. The president strongly opposed abortion, and for that I am grateful, but then in a leap of hypocrisy, he refused to support children's healthcare. His, let us all make babies and then let them suffer and die, hypocritical and transparent ode to the Christian Right and fascism. Now he sends men and women off to be killed and to kill, to be maimed and to maim, and for the experiences of the few who delight in murder and torture and violence, he sends men and women whose consciences are more highly strung, with godly thought, off to experience gut and conscience ripping incidents which tear their loyalties and morality asunder and then he refuses them proper health and psychiatric care or a way to upgrade their employment skills. These are the ravages of corporate run governments-fascist mentalities. In like thinking to mine, Giacomo Mordente III, once president of the National Association of Veterans' Program Administrators, stated: "The administration always has an unlimited budget to go to war. But when it comes time to help the people, the casualties of the war, they do whatever they can to limit liability." The Boston Globe in agreeing with me, added, that the "promise of an education in return for serving the country is one of the most frequently cited reasons that young men and women join the military." However, "-the limited return on the promise is one of the most common sources of bitterness and frustration that emerge in interviews with Iraq and Afghanistan veterans." An Iraq veteran cited recruitment ads saying: "Don't worry. College is taken care of," that veteran's comment, "-it is not true." Patrick Campbell of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of American (IAVA) said the $20,000, $30,000; even $40,000 enlistment bonus checks are "not a good investment." The IAVA ahs stated that the new G.I. Bill "is a practical answer to the military's troop shortage" and further that instead of, "continuing to spend billions in bonuses for lower-standard enlistees, increasing G.I. Bill benefits would encourage high-aptitude young people to join the military." The vets cited "a 1988 Congressional study showing that every dollar spent on educational benefits under the original GI Bill added seven dollars to the national economy in terms of productivity, consumer spending and tax revenue." Yet, in the wealthy, far western Chicago suburbs, we have the milk and ice cream King of Kane/DuPage County, a Mr. Oberwiese, a man enriched by selling dairy products and old-fashioned home delivery, advocating an end to employer supplied healthcare benefits. In testimony to Congress last summer, some Defense Department members said, "the current program for active duty is basically sound and serves its purpose in support of the all-volunteer force. The department finds no need for the kind of sweeping (and expensive) changes offered." Whence comes such inhumanity and avarice? These are the twin signs in men of the Demon within. I would offer to them all who think that way, my pity, and my prayers for when they have to be sent to Hell and my services to perform an exorcism on them, to avert that disaster and become human beings once again. Here we have the classic battle of good and evil, right now in America, where millions of eastern European fascists became immigrants to America during and after WW II and now two generations later, in some of them, infested with the seeming Royalist inbred hatred of humankind and odious and despicable avarice, has taken hold once more of the world, but this time emanating from the land that seemed to defeat it in the first place in 1945. It bodes ill for our future to allow our enemies, the enemies of all humankind, to be allowed to immigrate here so soon after their bitter defeat at our hands. Truman should have followed up with an Old Testament treatment of those industrialists who tried the coup, which the Prophet FDR averted by exiling their entire brood off to the land that gave birth to the Straight from Hell Ideas with which they infested America. Better that fascism should have been banished to some remote island like Greenland, or the Moon, than to give birth to new generations of evil and avarice in the home of the brave and the land of the free. Because now what we are seeing is not so many brave as during WW II here, and very few free any more, and that can be laid at the feet of Eastern European and American fascists, toward which ill-advised mercy was shown.
"*Medical" is my addition to the speech about the Military Industrial Complex made by General President Eisenhower before the inauguration of JFK.
