This morning I reached a conclusion that seemed so simple I felt I should have reached it years ago. I have long wondered why any sane person would condone, much less support, the Bush-Cheney administration. I have written numerous articles in an attempt to cause these supporters to see this administration as the dictatorial evil it has become. Alas, to no avail.

Support for President Bush consistently is in the 25-30-percentile range. This, simply stated, means one of every three or four Americans think this administration is just fine. I have spent many hours trying to determine why any true American citizen could think this bunch was anything other than evil and corrupt.

Today I concluded that certain special interest groups, fearing the actions normally undertaken by Democrat office holders represent this 25-30-percentile. Right wing Christians, NRA members, anti-abortionists probably compose most, if not all, the support for Bush-Cheney. They are led masterfully by those in office, the media, and Ministers from their pulpits to vote anti-Democrat. I am not sure they even like Bush-Cheney. They just abhor the thought of Democrats in office. They see them as Socialists.

This administration has lied us into a war that has caused the death of over 3,500 brave soldiers. This administration has assumed powers akin to the Communist Party, an example being the loss of protection afforded by Habeas Corpus. This administration has approved of torture as a way to obtain information. This administration has held prisoners, uncharged, for years. This administration has made Halliburton a household name. This administration has set workers rights back decades. I could go on and on because these scum don’t ever quit taking.

After reaching this conclusion two thoughts raced through my mind. One, 25-30-percentile does NOT a majority make. Two, getting out the vote is far more important than attempting to convert those so fearful of Democrats in office. 70-75-percentile of Americans disagree with the goals and actions of Bush-Cheney. That equals hope.

WE all have heard stories of voter rolls being purged prior to elections, ballots uncounted, machines that can be hacked used to record votes. These things must cease. It will not be easy because the administration has people in place that are zealots performing, with what they believe righteous cause, dirty tricks. Voter registrars must be watched and jailed if they partake in a discriminatory purging of names from voter rolls. Voting machines are just a bad idea. Our votes are sacred enough to be protected and counted. Our freedoms need not cease because 25-30-percentile are active. The rest of us MUST become active. Ask your friends and neighbors if they vote. Get them to if they don’t. Fully a third of those you send to the ballot boxes will vote for more of the same. However, that does not a majority make.

Anyone having ideas on what we, as average citizens, can do to encourage voting submit them and we will publish them as guides for us all. We must get the electorate involved instead of just the sheep. Working toward this goal in a person-to-person manner is our best chance of restoring America to the standards and values of which we were so proud!!
