As Sigmund Freud said,
We humans are all at war with ourselves
The subconscious and superconscious
Both push for self-metamorphosis
All the while the conscious, sandwiched between them
Holds them both at bay for a time
Fiercely defending the temporary mortal conscious
And so we continue this tug of war, in a state of self-crucifixion
But if we find balance and even better
If we find synthesis, then what?
Could we then transcend this Freudian battle?
And are we at the brink even now?
Genes fight for their own continuance and life
But the extra-genetic of culture fights for mortal life's antithesis
Culture is in its origin ultimately a spiritual impulse
The human is the only animal to ask what happens after life?
All the universe is an arbitrary expression of God
And up until mankind all the arbitrary symbols speak of "life"
But the human turns the battle for life on its head
The human and his culture speaks of death/rebirth
( in cultural and in religious and spiritual pursuit )
Life seeking its own undoing are we
We abide on a cross
Where one impulse is at right angles to the other
Much as the universe contains inversioning within itself
Space and time, form and function, energy and matter
These pairs are inversionings in a dynamic duo dance
And so now, in humans, genetic life begins to dance past itself
We humans may yet learn to do this dance and be happy
Life and Death/Rebirth are each other inside out !!!
Humans trying for more are beginning to dance this dance !!!
Human-ness is dying and inversioning and will be ????????
We must allow the inner Death/Rebirthing if we are to find out
