While I like much of what Michel Chossudovsky has written I find this most recent diatribe to be ovely simplistic. The Crusades was a very complex historic event that does not lend itself to the simplistic historic revision that we find in Michel Chossudovsky's article.====================================

Islam was as dangerous to a humane society then as it is now. And if it were not for the work of Charles the Hammer and Charlemagn we would all be part of an Islamic Caliphate today: living under medieval Sharia law. It kind of makes me wonder how much money Michel Chossudovsky is getting from Islamic Oil Barrons and Heroin traffickers.
Furthermore we are spending 700 BILLION dollars each year to purchase oil from these largely Muslim nations that then use the money to infiltrate our country with immigrant and mosques that basically can't stand our US Constitution. Now there's an inconvenient truth.
I have been arguing for decades to invest in solar designed homes and to develope photo-voltaic technologies. Sadly this has not occured and we are now facing some very "inconvenient truths." If we contnue the same strategy then this country is going to be owned -- lock, stock and barrel -- by people that look at us as kaffers and dhimmi: basically as third class citizen slaves. Just look at how Christians are being treated in Muslim countries such as Egypt.

So while I never supported an incurssion into Iraq I do recognise the calculus of our current world, where Islamic Oil Producing countries are draining our republic like a vampire. Add to this the evolving tensions with China, Russia, South America and the building "Islamic Crescent" and you are looking at a perfect storm that could destroy the futures of all of your children and grand children. They could be looking at a future that Charles Dickens would have loved to write about.
The "New Agenda for America: attempts to address much of this, yet we cannot ignore -- as much as we would like -- the possibility of armed conflict.

History is fraught with war and misery. Only if we can "see things as they are" and work hard to find solutions, do we ever have a chance of averting calamities that most Americans haven't a clue about. And I am talking about governments where soldiers can basically rape your daughters with impunity. I am talking about the archetypes of your worst nightmares. We hold these archetypes because they have been witnesses and inscribed within our very DNA.
It will take the brightest among us to divine the workable solutions. But two things are quite clear to me. First, Obama has his head up his ass when he proposes to dismantle our nuclear weapons. As unfortune as it may be, we may be forced to use them at some point.
Secondly Michel Chossudovsky appears to take a cavalier attitude to Islam as a threat -- not only to our US Constitution -- but to the very notion of liberty throughout the planet. So while there are grains of truth in this article he has definately lost sight of the forest, for the trees.
